Addressing Concerns
“Is this just corporate greenwashing?”
➡ No. Billions of dollars are flowing directly into Wisconsin’s economy to build data centers, renewable generation, and transmission infrastructure. These projects are tangible, visible, and tied to enforceable energy targets.
“Will ratepayers be stuck with the bill?”
➡ No. Utilities charge developers directly for the grid infrastructure needed to serve them. Wisconsin families and businesses see the benefits of stronger systems without footing the bills.
“Won’t data centers drain our water supply?”
➡ No—not in Wisconsin. While data centers elsewhere can consume millions of gallons a day, Wisconsin’s projects are designed to conserve fresh water. Most are using closed loops system with minimal municipal water use—about the same as 65 local households. This is substantially less water use than most golf courses, water parks, commercial farming operations and traditional manufacturing facilities.
